the kakadu plum

Vitamin C is so good for the skin as it is an amazing antioxidant and assists in boosting collagen and helps protect your skin from free radical damage including UV damage from the sun.

Vitamin C is usually put into skin care products in the form of harsh citric acids and juices that would usually cause sensitive skin to react.

One of my first thoughts when coming up with the concept for Bare Skinfood was that I wanted all of the ingredients to be safe for sensitive skin, but still give all the benefits the skin needs to be thoroughly nourished.

I didn’t want to compromise on Vitamin C so I researched so many ingredients and found a powerhouse one – the Kakadu plum!

This is native to northern Australia and has been used by indigenous Australians for thousands of years as an antiseptic and healing remedy.

It actually has the highest amount of vitamin C – over 50 times more than oranges! So not only does it give all the benefits of vitamin C, but is also an amazing anti-inflammatory and reduces redness and heals wounds! This means that it is safe for those with irritations, eczema and rosacea.

It contains phytochemicals such as gallic and ellagic acids. Gallic acid is the antioxidant that has antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties while ellagic acid stimulates elasticity and collagen production to keep skin looking supple, rejuvenated and radiant. It also contains hyaluronic acid as well which improves the skins texture and also promotes wrinkle reduction.

This amazing plum will be found throughout our range!
