benefits of yoga for the skin
Yoga is so amazing for so many things like increased flexibility, improved strength, and promoting a peaceful headspace. Along with these benefits, yoga can also help to give your skin a natural and radiant glow!
1. INCREASED CIRCULATION & BLOOD FLOW
Yoga poses increase circulation and blood flow within the body. Poses that have you bending forward or being inverted help to increase blood flow to the head, which helps your face to radiate. Some poses for this are child’s pose, cobra pose, triangle pose or shoulder stand.
2. IMPROVES DIGESTION
Poses that have you twisting and binding can help improve digestion, which is so crucial to help us absorb all the nutrients and goodness from our food. An unhealthy digestion can lead to breakouts, eczema and dry skin. It’s pretty much the body’s way of showing that it’s not happy on the inside. Try poses like half lord of the fishes, marichi’s pose and revolved triangle pose.
3. REDUCES SIGNS OF AGEING
Meditation help to relax the face muscles, which can help reduce premature fine lines forming around your forehead and eyes. This will also help you have a clearer headspace, which will essentially benefit your overall happiness, which will radiate from within.
4. LOWER STRESS LEVELS
Yoga practices also help to lower your stress levels by relaxing and clearing the mind. When you’re stressed you’re more prone to premature ageing, breakouts and an overall tired complexion.
5. FACIAL YOGA TONES THE SKIN
Facial yoga is a thing! This is where you move the muscles in your face with your hand to help strengthen them for a firmer complexion. The ones I love are the forehead smoother, which is where you make a fist with both of your hands and place your knuckles in the middle of your forehead and with applying pressure, move out to your temples. The facelift is another great one where you simply place both palms on your temples, push your hands up and back lifting the sides of your face. I love doing this when I’m applying oil or a serum.
6. ASSISTS IN A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP
The breathing techniques taught can also assist in a good nights sleep, which is essential for skin rejuvenation. When you’re laying in bed, try deep belly breathing as your mind generally focuses on this and not other thoughts that may be running through your head, allowing you to have a peaceful sleep.
