skin loving kale smoothie
Greens have so many benefits for your skin, however I've never really been much of a fan of green smoothies as they always seem to taste a bit, well, earthy!
However I was determined to come up with a recipe that I liked so I could incorporate them more into my diet, as the benefits are just way too good to miss out on. And I think I've done it!
This smoothie is kale and spinach based, but with a tropical twist so it's super fresh and sweet!
INGRIDIENTS:
- 2 Kale Leaves
- Handful of Spinach
- 1 Ripe Banana
- 1 Mango
- 3 Frozen Cubes Passionfruit
- 1 Tsp Hemp Seeds
- 250ml Almond Milk
- Juice Of 1/2 Lemon
- 1 Tsp Flaxseeds
The passionfruit really gives it a sweet and tropical flavour and I found frozen cubes just at my local Coles in the frozen fruit section. They're such an easy way to sweeten up a smoothie!
TIP! Because of the kale and passionfruit, this smoothie works best with a high powered blender. (Mine isn't great so you can see little flecks in it, however the taste is just as good!)
BENEFITS FOR THE SKIN
KALE:
Kale is an amazing source of vitamins A, B, C & K as well as antioxidants and phytonutrients. It can also help with collagen production, increasing cell turnover and preventing free radical damage.
SPINACH:
Spinach contains so many antioxidants as well as vitamin C, E & A, which are all amazing for increasing collagen production and also repairing the skin.
HEMP SEEDS:
These are a great source of healthy fats and acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory while simultaneously encouraging skin growth and new cell generation.
LEMON:
Lemons are an anti-bacterial and also contain vitamin C, which can help brighten and revitalise the skin.
FLAXSEEDS:
These are packed with omega 3 fatty acids and are also an amazing anti-inflammatory.
